Boyd Regional Juvenile Detention Center works to meet female juveniles where they are and help them learn from past mistakes. The facility emphasizes having a problem-solving mindset and works with  females to successfully achieve rehabilitation.  
 
About Boyd Regional Juvenile Detention C​​enter
Boyd Regional Juvenile Detention Center is a maximum-security facility. The facility was founded and built in 2004 and houses a maximum of 33 female juveniles. The facility works closely with community partners to offer different learning experiences for the juveniles including domestic violence awareness and education, and the Support, Teach, Empower, Protect, Serve, or STEPS program, which teaches coping skills and good mental health habits.

Hope Smith is the Juvenile Facility Manger at Boyd Regional Juvenile Detention Center, and she creates an atmosphere where the juveniles feel comfortable learning and growing from their past mistakes. Rehabilitation and reentry are key to her and her staff’s strategy.

Saturday and Sunday 2:00pm-3:00pm, Wednesday 6:00pm-7:00pm, or by special arrangement. Virtual visitation is available.

​Cody Thompson, Facility​ Manager

Cody Thompson has served as the Deputy Juvenile Facility Manager at London Group Home since June 2024. Thompson brings over 11 years of experience in juvenile justice to the role, beginning his career with the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet in 2016. He has held roles including Probation and Parole Officer, Reentry Coordinator and Justice Program Administrator. In his current role, Thompson oversees daily operations and youth care.

A graduate of Union College with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, Thompson is a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Kentucky Council on Crime and Delinquency and the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. In 2018, he received a Commissioner's Coin for exceptional service. Outside of work, Cody enjoys spending time with his family, coaching youth sports and serving as a Deacon and youth program volunteer at his church.​
