Lake Cumberland Youth Development Center prides itself on its natural views that provide a unique experience for juveniles to grow and learn from their pasts.  
 
About Lake Cumberland Youth Development Center
Lake Cumberland Youth Development Center is located on 668 aces on the shores of Lake Cumberland. The facility is medium security and houses a maximum of 40 residents.

The facility was originally a boy's camp before it became a youth development center. It has retained many of its original perks, including a boat dock and the opportunities for fishing. Lake Cumberland Youth Development Center also has a library and vocational shop, with instruction available for welding and carpentry. There are also a variety of community outreach programs for youth to participate in.

William Huffaker, Facility Manager

William Huffaker began working at Lake Cumberland Youth Development Center in 2012, and was promoted to juvenile facility manager in 2018, a role he continues to hold. He attended Eastern Kentucky University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, a minor in homeland security police studies and asset protection, and a master’s in security and emergency management with an emphasis in homeland security.

Huffaker says his motivation is facing new challenges every day and wants to make positive changes and better people’s lives.
